The EDU is a small right-conservative, evangelical party. It currently has 2 seats in the 200-seat lower chamber of the Swiss Parliament (Nationalrat = National Council), forming a parliamentary group together with the EVP.

The flag is vertical, with a square white field at the top, containing the party logo and party names in three languages; the bottom part is red with a large white Swiss cross towards the bottom [1,2,3]. The logo itself consists of a vertical red field with a Swiss cross accompanied on both sides by the party abbreviations "EDU" and "UDF".
